Engine noise reaches your ears in short bursts, on the throttle and off again. Wind noise is constant and sustained at motorway speeds, typically 90–105 dB. It is that continuous exposure that causes cumulative hearing damage over time. The engine is loud. The wind never stops.
Mode 1 (18–22 dB) is for city riding and shorter runs. Mode 2 (20–25 dB) is the standard motorway setting for most riders. Mode 3 (25–32 dB) is for touring and high-speed riding, where exposure time and wind speed are at their highest. You adjust by turning the external filter ring, which takes two seconds.
